Flexible service

Every creative project is different, so we offer a range of services to suit you:

  • Editing retreats - you can wet hire our FCP/Avid editing suite, which means you get Daren as your editor, plus board and catering if required.
  • Editing suite, dry hire – perhaps you want to bring in your own production team or do the rough cut yourself? You can work alone and we offer board and catering too.
  • Offline/Online editing – Daren can edit programmes either from his suite near Gatwick. You can view his cuts over the web, via FTP access. Or for big projects he can come into London and work in your facilities.
  • Bringing in other editors Got a big project on? Daren can draw on his extensive contacts in the business to get the job done on time.

Clear thinking is crucial for the perfect edit. You get to escape the madness of London for a few days while you immerse yourself in your creative vision.

Secluded location The editing suite is in a timber-built barn in the grounds of a detached Victorian lodge. For a breather between edits, why not take a stroll through the woodland, pat next door’s horses, or chill out in our acre of wild gardens?

Overnight stays You'll sleep tight in our guest bedroom. It's in the main house and has stripped wooden floors and original Victorian features. Or for more privacy you can stay in the editing studio which has its own ensuite bathroom with power shower. There's also a toaster, tea, coffee cappuccino maker, microwave, fridge and satellite TV with movie packages.

Offline/Online editing suite

DT Editing's FCP/Avid edit suite was built by Soho's finest. In summer 2007 the engineers from post-production house Clearcut Pictures installed the suite.

The system's so good that you can stay at online resolution throughout your project. You'll be working with fully uncompressed files at 4:2:2 SD/HD. This means you're assured a broadcast quality result ready for technical review using our legalisers and waveform monitors.

Our suite runs Final Cut Pro Studio 2 and Avid Media Composer on an Intel Mac G5 Quad Xeon. We have plenty of storage - 7 Terabytes (raid 5 protected) on our dedicated network.

Other benefits include:

  • Reliable technology Under our service contract, if the suite were ever to go down we would get same-day back up. Also we are raid 5 protected. So if a drive goes down, your media is always backed up so we can still keep on editing.
  • Fast rushes shuttling Our great fibre channel connections mean we can shuttle rushes up and down quickly and reliably without crashing.
  • Doubling up – You can work on the Macbook Pro laptop which doubles up as a second FCP suite. Both computers share the same media wirelessly from our storage system.
  • Converting you between different software - if you want to switch between software packages, we can take your project from FCP to Avid or vice versa using our Automatic Duck software.

Viewing your final cut: 2 options

  • On site - you can watch the final cut on our 50" HD plasma screen with surround sound or our main grading monitor.
  • Remotely via the web – you can view what Daren’s done via DT Editing's FTP site.

Other services

  • Web-ready videos - want your video encoded to appear on a website? We can encode it into any format, from Mpegs to Flash files.
  • DVD authoring – we can put your corporate video onto DVD, with multiple interactive menus. Choose from standard definition DVDs to HD Blu-ray.
